Elementary School Music Program
“If children are not introduced to music at an early age, I believe something fundamental is actually being taken from them.”
-Luciano Pavarotti
LGUSD students start music right in Kindergarten! They receive general music, band, choir, and orchestra instruction at all of the Elementary schools.
For the full K-12 music pathways, please visit here. If you have questions, please reach out to the appropriate faculty member.
K-4 Music
In Kindergarten through Fourth Grade, students learn general music principals, theory, and notes using their voice, recorders, ukeleles, percussion instruments, and more.
5th Grade Music
Upon entering Fifth Grade, students may choose choir or an instrument (strings, woodwinds, or brass) for their weekly music class. Many students also choose to take private lessons. Fifth grade ensembles will perform at least twice during the school year.
5th Grade Honor Ensembles
Students from all LGUSD elementary schools are invited to participate in the 5th Grade Honor Ensembles - Choir, Strings, and Band. These ensembles perform at the May Picnic-n-Pops Concert at Fisher Middle School. It is a wonderful opportunity to be exposed to the music program at Fisher the spring before heading to middle school.
